In the shadow of the High Line is Waking by British artists Gilbert & George. The artists, themselves, are positioned in the center (the ultimate selfie), surrounded by a group of young children. Not wanting to shelter their art from the world (they go by the slogan “Art for All”), the piece can be seen now through October 1 on a billboard along a busy strip of Tenth Avenue.
With a kaleidoscope of colors, Waking is a can’t-miss. And, in a neighborhood buzzing with creativity, culture, innovation & artfully-dressed pedestrians, it’s perfectly at home–day and night.
