I’ve always had a “thing” for shoes.

My first pair (a classic white saddle) was an unforgettable experience, documented by a roll of old school Kodak photos of me, red-faced and screaming.  But, it didn’t take long before I was completely enamored with them.  The shoes are long gone, but, the photos still sit, yellowing at the edges, in my baby album.

Fast forward a few years.

My first *real* pair (a Marc Jacobs d’Orsay pump) were discovered in a hole-in-the-wall boutique in Cannes, while backpacking through Europe with my two best friends, after college graduation.  From the moment that they became mine, the pumps were safely tucked under my arm as I slept on overnight trains and in sketchy hostels, until we touched down at JFK Airport three weeks later.

One of my all-time favorites: a Mary Jane by Manolo Blahnik (with New Balance and Nike sneakers).  I’ll have these forever.
